Peace Now?

What is 'Peace Now'?

'Peace Now' is a grassroots political activists organization which claims to be dedicated to the cause of Peace. It feels that Peace could be had quickly, and that the decision is up to Israel. All Israel need do is make the decision to take the appropriate risks and to try something new: Peace.

Is 'Peace Now' a pro-Peace group, or is it a pro-Arab group?

Gilad Haymann, long-time member of Peace Now, continues to attack the organization for its support of the Palestinian cause. Haymann, an assistant to Labor MK Ophir Pines, recently wrote an op-ed piece in Ha'aretz newspaper attacking Peace Now for becoming "a small extremist movement [which] does not act today out of concern for Israeli interests but rather from an almost blind identification with the Palestinians". In an interview with Dr. Aaron Lerner of IMRA yesterday, Haymann said, "Peace Now has taken the attitude of not being concerned with the needs of Israel while maintaining that the Palestinians can do no wrong.

Consider for example that after the bombing of Apropo, poet Daliah Ravikovitch was on the Popolitika TV show and she started talking about Goldstein and the Hevron massacre when the discussion was about Apropo. But what the terrorist did in Apropo was just as serious as Goldstein. The Palestinians have bad intentions... The Palestinians may need help, but they are the other side. What troubles me is the euphoria, excitement and support for Faisal Husseini when he came up to talk at the rally at Har Homa the day of the Apropo bombing. Sali Reshef spoke before him and did not get much applause, but Husseini did... The ideological message of Peace Now is right. But when you carry out negotiations with the Arabs, it should be discussion - not identification".

In the original article, Heymann wrote: "[Peace Now] has turned into a movement today which consistently represents the Palestinian position, so much so that even many of its members - who are full of self-hate towards everyone who represents their state - 'understand' the need to use violence and attacks in order to fight the Netanyahu government".

Today the primary American Jewish groups fulfilling this propaganda function for the Arabs are: New Israel Fund, Americans for Peace Now, New Jewish Agenda, and Michael Lerner's TIKKUN. In Israel there are several political groups which support the Arab propaganda position. They include the Meretz Party, Shalom Akshav [Peace Now], and the left-wing of the Israel Labor Party.

What do "Peace Now" and Neville Chamberlain have in common?

Appeasement or Peace?

There is a strange correlation between those who demand "Peace Now"in the Middle East and the Neville Chamberlain Policies, just prior to the advent of World War Two. These policies of appeasement in the face of Hitler's aggressive actions when he took over the Ruhr and Rhineland territories only encouraged more aggression.

Neville Chamberlain was not the only one to fail when courage decisiveness and quick action were badly needed. The French, under Daladier, blindly went along with Chamberlain, Hitler, and Mussolini at the 1938 conference in Munich. At this conference the British, French, Italian, and German leaders decided the fate of Czechoslovakia while the Czech attendees were locked in their rooms and denied any participation in this European version of a "Kangaroo Court". The enslavement of the Czech people followed soon thereafter.

Within six months the war came and all of Europe and most of the rest of the world was drenched in blood.

There is much to be said for historical memory as a valuable tool to prevent a repetition of past tragedies. How many Jewish parents have passed on this precious knowledge to their children? If they have not, what do they expect of the future in this perilous world? Does desiring peace and dreaming of peace make it a reality? Does a peace treaty written on a few pieces of paper guarantee peace? These simple questions were answered not too long ago by "Blood, Sweat, Tears and Toil"and finally victory. -

Peace is a good thing. Why not 'Now'?

"Peace Now" was a lapel button, not a plan for ending the 50-year war of Arabs against Israel. Wars do not end "now", when somebody calls a rally. They end when one side wins, or both think they will never get a better deal than the one on the table.

If not Peace Now, then WHAT now?

Unrealistic expectations about peace work like a euphoria-inducing drug. What both Israel and the Palestinians could use now is the salutary, if rigorous, therapy of detoxification. Are Jews 'Judaizing' Jerusalem? Are they overpopulating it and displacing Arabs?

In Jerusalem Arab growth rate surpasses that of the Jews
1. Since 1967 Jerusalem's Jewish population has increased by only 105%, while its Arab population has increased by 156%. In other words, despite Arab charges that Israel is "Judaizing"the city, Jerusalem is less Jewish today than it was in 1967. (This and the next 2 points are based on 1993 data from the Statistical Yearbook of Jerusalem.)

2. Excluding the Old City (where little building takes place), the average size of Jewish homes in Jerusalem is 67.2 square meters, while the average size of Arab homes is 75.1 square meters.

3. While the Arab population of Jerusalem has increased greatly, crowding has actually decreased. Since 1967 the number of rooms-per-person in Arab households has increased by 11%.

4. Much of the new Arab building in Jerusalem has taken place in the neighborhoods of Ras al-Amud and Arab a-Suwachra in the south-east, and in Shuafat and Beit Hanina in the north. Arab villages within the city, such as Isawiya, A-Tur, Sur Bacher and Beit Safafa, have also grown significantly.

5. Meron Benvenisti, the former Deputy Mayor of Jerusalem, now much quoted by Israel's critics, in the past criticized propagandists who distorted Arab and Jewish population growth in Jerusalem:

"These complaints were taken up and accepted in wide circles all over the world. However, demographic data did not justify such complaints. The massive Israeli efforts only ensured that the growth of the Jewish population of the city did not lag behind that of the Arab community. As in many other areas, the complaints rested not so much on real facts as on the declarations of politicians. The efforts made for the rapid construction and development of the city brought about a relatively swift growth of the Jewish population, but they also brought about a relatively faster growth of the Arab community. Like Siamese twins, the two communities nourished each other and were obliged to advance at the same pace. The true beneficiary of the efforts directed towards development was not the Jewish community, nor the Arab one, it was the city as a whole". (Jerusalem, The Torn City, 1976)

Since Benvenisti wrote these words in 1976, Jewish building in Jerusalem has continued to lag behind the Arab efforts, as noted above.

Israel is the only Jewish State, while there are 22 Arab States. Are Israelis committed to remaining a viable Jewish State?

Is Israel crucial to Jewish survival and continuity?

What other names were used to describe the land including the modern State of Israel?

Many terms for the Land exist in other languages. The English call it "Palestine", and the Germans "Palastina", having adopted the name through the course of generations from the Greek and Roman inhabitants of the Mediterranean coast. As seagoing peoples, the Greeks and Romans first discovered the Land of Israel through direct contact with its Philistine inhabitants who according to the Old Testament (see Amos 9:7; Jeremiah 47:4; Deuteronomy 2:23), came from Caphtor, which may probably be identified with Crete. A Pelasgian origin was also suggested, but modern scholars believe that the Philistines, undoubtedly immigrants, came from Crete.

During the period of Roman rule the land was divided into districts: "Palestina Prima" in the South, "Palestina Secunda" in the central portion, and "Palestina Tertia" in the southern part of Transjordan. The English also called the country "the Holy Land", and the French "Terre Sainte", from the Latin "Terra Sancta". The State of Israel issued a special medallion bearing the words "Terra Sancta" for non-Jewish pilgrims. The English "Land of Israel" and the French "Pays d'Israel" appear in Christian literature, and writers have called their books on the Land by these names. Another name common among non-Jews is "the promised land", found in Latin literature and maps of the country. The English and Germans also use the names "land of the Bible" and "land of the Holy Scriptures". "Das Gelobte Land" (the praiseworthy land) appears in German literature praiseworthy for the great events which occurred during the time ancient Israel dwelt in the homeland of the Holy Scriptures and cradle of Christianity.

In Arabic literature, the Land of Israel appears once in the Koran, as "Ard al Makdasa" (the Holy Land) in the Islamic version of Moses' words to the people of Israel: "Enter, my people, the Holy Land which Allah has assigned for you" (Koran, 5, "The Table", 24).

Today the Arabs call the land "Falestin", the Arabic version of "Palestina", appearing in ancient Jewish literature. This name is found also in medieval Arabic literature, where it designates only a part of the Land of Israel, the southern district and its capital Ramla, corresponding to the ancient Roman "Palestina Prima".

Between medieval and modern times, the Arabs also called the Land of Israel, together with neighboring Syria, "A-Sham".

During the modern period, after the end of World War I, nationalist Arabs called the Land, including Transjordan, "Suria a-Jenubiyeh" (southern Syria). This was also the name of an Arabic newspaper published in Jerusalem. These nationalists hoped to annex the Land of Israel, then under British rule, to Syria, where an Arabic kingdom had been established. When the French, who had been promised the mandate over all of Syria and Lebanon, put an end to this kingdom, the term "southern Syria" disappeared.

Is Israel a democracy? Is Israel humanitarian?

Democracy: No culture has shown a more profound commitment to democracy and its values than Israel. The U.S., perhaps the most strenuous defender of human rights, cannot claim that the danger that led to internment camps for Japanese and to the McCarthy inquisition compares with the threat Israel has faced in its first fifty years. Place in the Global Community: Israel is actually a natural leader and model for would-be developing nations. In the early '60s, Israel had perhaps the single most successful program of "peace corps" volunteers and professionals in the world. How did the Israelis know all about the Entebbe airport? They built it.

Tel Avivians Mocked on Shalit Approach

Anonymous person sends out new animation clip on internet depicting 'Tel Avivians' and Facebook users who added Gilad Shalit's picture to their profile as harming effort to secure his release.

VIDEO - The Shalit family's campaign and its supporters has now received a counter-response. An animation clip recently uploaded to YouTube, entitled "Gilad Shalit Waiting for an Operation," presents the supports of a prisoner swap deal to secure the release of the Israeli soldier held in Hamas captivity as playing into the terrorist group's hands.

The Facebook users who chose to show their support for the soldier by adding a badge on their Facebook profile picture are also the targets of ridicule in the animation clip. They, along with characters with "Tel Avivian" characteristics, are also accused of harming efforts to release the soldier.

Representatives of the Almagor Terror Victims' Association sent out a link to the video on Monday, but it remains unclear who is behind the clip itself.

At the end of the clip, its authors wrote, "Like the majority of the Israeli population, we pray for the speedy return home of Gilad Shalit. We are proud of the solidarity being shown by the Israeli public, the massive caring being displayed by the country's residents. This is true proof of the mutual responsibility that characterizes our people and its willingness to take action and provide support in times of crisis."



However, the authors explained, "Each and every one of us must ask himself whether some of this support actually promotes Shalit's return, or whether it merely worsens the situation, pushes off his return, and weakens Israel against the enemy. In order to bring Shalit back, it is necessary that we understand the rules of the game in the Middle East as they really are, and not as we would like them to be."

In conclusion, the animators wrote, "The four long years of Shalit's captivity indeed prove that we must re-examine our course of action until now. However, they do not obligate Israel's surrender, of all things, to those interested in its destruction and receiving all of their demands. Such surrender is liable to be an eternal source of trouble that will cost much innocent blood."

Two weeks ago, Hamas posted a video on YouTube showing two armed and masked men next to images of Gilad Shalit taken from the video clip of the soldier released a year ago.

In the video, one of the men is waving a rifle in his hand, while the other takes some papers and objects out of his bag. At a certain point, the screen goes black, and the words "Will the mission be completed?" are written across the screen. At the end of the clip, the sound of a weapon being cocked and gunshots are heard.

Jews in the Holy Land? What Jews?

Welcome to the Holy Land: Al-Haram Al-Ibrahimi in Hebron, Bilal Ibn Ribah mosque in Bethlehem and Al-Burak Wall...

The Israeli government announced that it would include the Cave of the Patriarchs (Me'aratq HaMachpelah) in Hebron and Rachel's Tomb in Bethlehem as part of a comprehensive plan to preserve Israel's national heritage and religious sites (Moreshet). The reaction of the Arab (and all Islamic) world to the decision has once again showed the real essence of the "Arab-Israeli conflict", which actually is the "holy war" that Arabs had proclaimed against the Jews.

Any conflict can be resolved if the conflicting parties recognize each other's right of existence. It becomes basically irresolvable if one of parties refuses to recognize the other. The key questions of borders, the status of Jerusalem and refugees are difficult but could be resolved in case Arabs recognized the right of the Jews to live in their land.

Arabs do not recognize it.

All their policy, strategy, ideology is directed to depriving the Jews of any connection with the land of Israel: virtually, and then physically to uproot the Jews from the history of the Holy Land.

According to the Arabs, Jews have neither antiquities nor holy sites, they have no past. In other words, they do not belong to this land and have no right to exist at all.

It is the genocidal approach that is characteristic of Islam. Power and possession are inherent parts of religious attitude in Islam. This approach extends to all other religions, not only to Judaism.

The idea consists in depriving other cultures of their spiritual base to achieve total physical domination over them.

The famous Belgian orientalist Koenraad Elst in his book Negationism in India: Concealing the Record of Islam writes:

"In all the lands it conquered, Islam has replaced indigenous places of worship with mosques. In Iran, there are no ancient Zoroastrians or Manichean shrines left. In Central Asia, there are no Buddhist temples left. Similarly, in India (except the far South where Islam penetrated rather late) there are practically no Hindu temples that have survived the Muslim period (over 10,000 destroyed). But there are thousands of mosques built on the foundations of Hindu temples (for example, the Ayodhya temple)."
Nowadays, the same policy is being carried out towards the Jews.

The ignorance, hypocrisy and soullessness of the Western world makes it easier for Islam to proceed.

Jerusalem has never been a holy Muslim place.

Statements about the city being "the third holy place of Islam" appeared in the thirties of the last century. First they were announced by notorious Jerusalem's Grand Mufti Haj Amin Al-Husseini. He aspired to stir up religious fanaticism among apathetic local population. Al-Husseini worked vigorously to raise Jerusalem's status as an Islamic holy center. He renovated the mosques that had fallen into complete disrepair on the Temple Mount while conducting an unceasing campaign regarding the imminent Jewish "threat" to Muslim holy sites.

It is a well-known fact that Hussein collaborated with Hitler in the "final solution of the Jewish question". Less known is that he was appointed to the post of Grant Mufti of Jerusalem by a Jew, Herbert Samuel, the first High Commissioner of Palestine.

Samuel "was a weak administrator who was too ready to compromise and appease the extremist, nationalistic Arab minority led by Haj Amin al-Husseini." Earlier all Arabian historians and scientists referred to Jerusalem and, first of all, the Temple Mount, as the Jewish holy site only. In the 13th century an Arab geographer Yakut said: "Mecca is holy to Moslems and Jerusalem to the Jews".

On the Temple Mount "triumphant soldiers of Islam" behaved in the same way as they did everywhere where they appeared: destroyed local holy sites and replaced them with their own. When Caliph Omar entered the city of Jerusalem there was only one holy site on the Temple Mount at that time: the Byzantine Church of Saint Mary of Justinian. Caliph Abd El Malik built here the Dome of the Rock that is still incorrectly called "Omar Mosque".

20 years later his son, Abd El-Wahd, reconstructed the Church of Saint Mary and converted it into Al-Aqsa mosque.

"With this understood, it is no wonder that Mohammed issued a strict prohibition against facing Jerusalem in prayer, a practice that had been tolerated only for some months in order to lure Jews to convert to Islam. When that effort failed, Mohammed put an abrupt stop to it on February 12, 624. Jerusalem simply never held any sanctity for the Moslems themselves, but only for the Jews in their domain".

Jerusalem is not mentioned in the Koran.

The myth about Jerusalem being "the third holy place of Islam" began to spread quickly after 1967.

Muhammad is believed by all Muslims to have ascended into heaven alive at the site of the Dome of the Rock. Earlier this legend was not considered to be basic in Muslim mythology.

Rabbi Joseph Katz wrote that the present Arabian name of Jerusalem "EL-KUDS" is abbreviation for another Arabic name used for Jerusalem until the last century, "BET EL-MAKDES".
Under the Arab rule, in the 10th century Jerusalem was always called "BET EL-MAKDES" The name "BET EL-MAKDES" is a translation of the Aramaic and Hebrew "BEIT HA-MIKDASH", which means "Temple".

As I have said, Jerusalem became the holy city of Islam thanks to Haj Amin Al-Husseini. In 1947 the Saudis published a Fatwa (a religious ruling) calling for "rescuing the Temple Mount from the Jews". After 1967 Yassir Arafat used this slogan to transform the conflict with Israel to a religious war. Today Arabs do not recognize that there was the Temple here, or that Jerusalem has ever had any relation to the Jews. What's more, the existence of the Jews, as a religious and ethnic community is also denied.

The PA Mufti, Ikrima Sabri, appointed by Yassir Arafat, said that there was no such thing as the Western (or "Wailing") Wall. He claimed that it was the "part of the walls of the Al Aqsa mosque" and called it "Al Burak Wall".

For decades the Jerusalem Waqf has been destroying unique Jewish antiquities on the Temple Mount under different pretexts. Thousands of tons of dirt full of artefacts were carted away and dumped.

If it goes like this, there will soon be no traces of the Jewish presence on the Temple Mount.

That was the Jerusalem story.

Me'arat Hamachpela and Rachel's Tomb

Genesis Chapter 23 tells us that Abraham purchased the Cave of the Patriarchs to bury his wife Sarah. Genesis 35, 19 describes that Rachel "died and was buried on the road to Efrata which is Bethlehem".

It had happened about two thousand years before Islam appeared.

Now we learn that Me'arat HaMachpela and Rachel's Tomb have always belonged to Arabs. According to PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas the Israeli cabinet's decision is a "serious provocation that may lead to religious war".

USA, EU and UN have urged Israel to exercise restraint.

We also learn that both sites have no connection to the Jews.

One of them is named the Sanctuary of Abraham (Al-Haram Al-Ibrahimi), and the second Bilal Ibn Ribah mosque.

By the way, Bilal Ibn Ribah mosque was built by the Muslims only a thousand years ago.

All of this without any doubt is a "continuing Israeli provocation". It can cease only in one case: with the disappearance of Israel and its citizens. In the same way as Zoroastrians and Manichees ceased to exist. As Hindu and Buddhist temples disappeared. As the Church of Saint Mary of Justinian is gone from the Temple Mount and the "Wailing Wall" got its "real" name: "Al Burak Wall".

During the centuries everything non-Muslim that became part of Dar Al-Islam ("Land of Islam") has ceased from existence.

King Abdullah In Wonderland

When Alice fell down the rabbit hole, encountering situations that defied logic and characters who acted in bizarre ways, she was fortunate not to meet Jordan's kinglet, Abdullah II. Kinglet is an apt description for this monarch, first coined by columnist Ruth King.

Jordan's king, a member of the Hashemite tribe, is named after Emir Abdullah, who was assassinated on July 20, 1951 after leaving Friday evening prayers at Jerusalem's Al Aqsa mosque. Abdullah was in favor of making peace with Israel but, like Egypt's Anwar Sadat, he was murdered by Islamic extremists for his moderation. The assassinated emir was accompanied at the mosque by his grandson, King Hussein, also the present Jordanian monarch's father. In a recent interview in the Wall Street Journal, King Abdullah II announced that at his forthcoming meeting with America's president, Barack Hussein Obama, he will ask the president to pile on yet more pressure upon embattled Israel over Arab territorial demands on Israel's capital, Jerusalem.

The kinglet stated in his WSJ interview that "Jerusalem specifically engages Jordan because we are the custodians of the Muslim and Christian holy places and this is a flashpoint that goes beyond Jordanian-Israel relations."

And here we descend the rabbit hole. Abdullah II chose to hide the unpleasant facts that under his father, King Hussein, not only did Jordan refuse to allow Jews access to their holy sites during Jordan's illegal occupation of East Jerusalem from 1949 to 1967 (including the Old City, the Western Wall, and the Temple Mount), but it desecrated the ancient Jewish graves on the Mount of Olives, ran a road through the cemetery, used many of the gravestones as latrines for the Arab Legion, deliberately destroyed and desecrated scores of ancient synagogues throughout the Old City, and used the Tomb of Simon the Just as a stable. The Jewish inhabitants of the Old City and areas of east Jerusalem, meanwhile, had been driven from their homes and forced to flee to safety in West Jerusalem.

During the nineteen years of illegal Jordanian Arab occupation of the eastern neighborhoods of Jerusalem (an occupation recognized by only Pakistan and Britain), the United Nations not once protested against the rampant and systematic destruction of the ancient Jewish quarter. Only after the reunification of the city in 1967 and the removal by Israel of the Jordanian pillboxes, barbed wire, and sniper sites was the filth that had piled up over the years along the Via Delarosa (with Christian pilgrims being forced to wade through it) removed and the area cleansed. And only after reunification did the morally challenged United Nations begin its long and hypocritical series of anti-Israel resolutions over Jerusalem.

It is only since Israel was forced by Arab aggression to fight the June 1967 Six Day War and liberate Jerusalem from Jordanian occupation that all religions and faiths are treated with respect and provided free access to their holy places. On June 4, 1967, former Israeli Prime Minister Levi Eshkol pleaded with the late King Hussein, via the United Nations, not to follow the genocidal boastings of Egypt's President Nasser and attack the Jewish state. Eshkol stated that "we shall not initiate any action whatsoever against Jordan. However, should Jordan open hostilities, we shall react with all our might and he (the King) will have to bear the full responsibility for all the consequences."

The impressionable king, succumbing to Nasser's boast of Egyptian forces already inside Israel, ordered his artillery to open fire along the entire border between west and east Jerusalem. The Egyptians and elements of the Arab Legion had penetrated the southernmost Jewish suburb of Jerusalem, Ramat Rahel, founded in 1926 upon the same site of a Jewish village from biblical times.

It is instructive to note that King Hussein visited East Jerusalem only once during Jordan's occupation and chose to keep Amman the capital of Jordan. Indeed, no Muslim holy place is today the capital city of an Arab and Muslim state. In Iran, the capital is Teheran; it is not Qum or Meshed. In Saudi Arabia, neither Mecca nor Medina is the capital city; it is Riyadh.

Only the Jews regard Jerusalem as both their spiritual and temporal capital city, and they have done so for three thousand years. For Christians, Jerusalem is a spiritual, not a temporal, site. Muslims, even while praying in their mosque on the Temple Mount, face Mecca with their backs to Jerusalem.

The Two State Solution, 87 years old, is an ideal explanation of the history of betrayal by Great Britain toward its obligation to create a Jewish National Home in geographical Palestine and how the entire territory east of the River Jordan (present-day Jordan) was torn away, leaving only the narrow sliver of land west of the Jordan River for the reconstituted Jewish state. This tiny piece of land, which includes the very biblical and ancestral heartland of the Jews, is now threatened by yet another Two State Solution, reducing Israel to only nine miles wide at its most populous region. The present Kingdom of Jordan, over which Abdullah II reigns, is the much larger territory east of the River Jordan stretching east to Iraq, south to Saudi Arabia, and north to Syria.

In 1994, Yasser Arafat's PLO demanded East Jerusalem as the capital city of a new Arab state. All Jews living in such a capital, it declared, will be driven out -- or worse. Sound familiar? This demand was first articulated only after the 1967 War and Jerusalem's reunification. Since then, it has become a staple of Palestinian Arab and all other Arab and Muslim rhetoric.

Now Abdullah II impudently claims that the Israeli Prime Minister's actions have brought their two nation's relations to a new low. Again the Alice in Wonderland syndrome is clear for all to see. For Netanyahu has made yet more concessions to bring about peace in the region by agreeing to a freeze on housing for Jews throughout Judea and Samaria (the West Bank). No concessions have been demanded of the Palestinian Arabs, who continue terrorism against Israeli civilians and indoctrinate their children with vile anti-Jewish hatred -- all banned under the Oslo Peace Accords. The Jordanian king even stretches credulity by claiming that Jordanian officials call their relations with Israel a cold peace. He went on to say, "People to people exchanges between our two countries are virtually non-existent and cross border business has largely dried up."

Though Jordan has resisted the Palestinians' attempt to undermine the peace treaty obligations made earlier between Jordan and Israel in 1994, it has nevertheless been Jordan that is the cause of the cold peace with the Jewish state. Animosity toward Israel and the lack of peaceful interchange between the two peoples has been led by Jordan's professional and intellectual organizations. These have included journalists, doctors, dentists, business leaders, artists, and musicians. These groups have opposed all and every form of normalization with Israel.

Any Jordanian Arab who reaches out to Israelis is immediately threatened and blacklisted. It is ironic that Jordan's kinglet allows such a situation to exist while choosing to falsely blame Israel. Could it be that he is afraid of alienating these organizations for fear that the Hashemite control over his kingdom would falter? After all, Jordan's population is three-fourths Palestinian, and the kinglet's greatest fear is a Palestinian Arab coup.

In September 1970, the kinglet's father, King Hussein, fought off a PLO coup d'état led by the arch terrorist, Yasser Arafat, who had created a state within a state inside Jordan. Hussein's Arab Legion killed thousands of PLO terrorists, along with their families, and many fled to Israel for safety -- the very same terrorists who had been conducting grisly cross-border raids into Israel. Since then, Israel has several times warned Jordan of attempts to destroy it from the neighboring Syrian regime in Damascus, which considers Jordan as part of southern Syria. Indeed, Israel even intervened once to forestall an imminent Syrian invasion.

In his meeting with President Barack Hussein Obama, the kinglet will take the predictable anti-Israeli line in order to keep his Arab credentials intact and his Hashemite minority from being overthrown. The kinglet's throne is an uneasy one at best. But what better way to deflect his subjects' growing Islamic radicalization than to heap blame upon Israel for every problem in the Middle East? And this while secretly relying upon Israel to protect his throne.

According to an earlier Pew Global Attitude Project finding,

A majority of Jordanians now say suicide bombings and other violent actions are justifiable in defense of Islam. According to the Jordan Times' correspondent, Omar Karmi, because of close geopolitical and familial ties, Hamas has a close relationship with Jordan's Islamists, and the Jordanian Islamists' increasing popularity has been given a big boost by Hamas' victory. Jordan's Muslim Brotherhood is and always has been implacably opposed to the 1994 [Jordan-Israel] peace treaty. Despite the remarkable durability of the Hashemite Kingdom, Jordan's strategic position and its vulnerability remain a given that cannot be ignored in any Israeli security assessment.

Jordan's King Abdullah II dares not buck the growing Arab, Muslim, and worldwide pressure piling on Israel, vastly encouraged as it is by the mendacious and unprincipled anti-Israel bias emanating from the White House and State Department. He will no doubt echo the tired old mantra that solving the Israel-Palestinian conflict will miraculously solve all world problems and usher in "peace in our time."

It is no surprise, therefore, that the kinglet and the American president will have a great time together at their upcoming Mad Hatter's Tea Party. And no doubt U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, U.S. Middle East envoy George Mitchell, and American General James Jones will all join together in the "let's bash Israel" festivity while the malevolent Cheshire cat, Ahmadinejad, looks on with an ever-widening grin.

Egypt: Shalit Likely Moved to New Hideout

Cairo sources say recent arrest of senior Hamas operative privy to kidnapped Israeli soldier's location has prompted Gaza Islamist group to order he be moved immediately

The recent arrest of Mohammed Dababish, a top Hamas intelligence officer, in Egypt has prompted the Gaza group to move kidnapped IDF soldier Gilad Shalit to a new hideout.

According to Cairo's intelligence services, Dababish is among of a handful of Hamas officials who know exactly where Shalit is being held and who his captors are. His arrest 10 day ago – for allegedly trying to use a fake passport to cross from Egypt to Gaza – is believed to have sparked considerable concern within the Islamist group.

Egyptian intelligence sources ventured that following the arrest, the Israeli soldier's captures were ordered to move him to a new location immediately.

Dababish's arrest, according to several sources, was made possible following information given to Cairo's intelligence services by their Israeli and American counterparts.

It has also come to light that a recent Egyptian warning to Israel about Palestinian militants plan to fire missiles at Israel from Sinai derived from information Dababish gave his interrogators.

Cairo has rejected Hamas' demand to release their operative, who the group claims was on a pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia when he was arrested.

Egypt however, believed Dababish was returning from the Strip from Damascus, where he devised a plan to smuggle weapons into Gaza Strip.

Hamas Posts New Gilad Shalit Video

Group shows gunmen flanking kidnapped soldier in latest propaganda clip threatening his death

VIDEO - A new video was posted on YouTube by Hamas on Monday, showing kidnapped soldier Gilad Shalit flanked by two gunmen on either side. The clip ends with the sound of gunfire.

In the video one of the men holds a rifle while the other removes various items from a case. Between them is the image of Gilad Shalit, as he appeared in a previous video made public one year ago.

After a few moments the screen goes dark, and a phrase appears on the screen: "Will the mission be completed?" it says. Then gunshots are sounded.

The film was not the first to be released by the terror organization responsible for kidnapping the soldier. The previous propaganda clip was posted on a website belonging to Hamas's military wing in June.

It showed an Israeli tank on the border with Gaza, and a drone flying through the air above. Then the tank, in which Shalit is located, blows up. "The illusion is shattered," says the screen.

The website's homepage displays a timeline ranging from June 25, 2006 – when Shalit was kidnapped – until today. Next to 2010 it says, "Four years and Gilad is still ours".

TIME Magazine's Latest Blood Libel About Israel

The September 13, 2010 issue of TIME Magazine arrived yesterday. The cover story is titled "Why Israel Doesn't Care About Peace" and is illustrated by a large Jewish star composed of daisies. Yes, daises—as in "counting daisies, don't have a care in the world."

This is precisely the point of Karl Vick's article. He writes:

Israelis are no longer preoccupied with the matter [of peace with the Palestinians]. They're otherwise engaged: They're making money; they're enjoying the rays of the late summer … they have moved on.

Vick quotes an Israeli real estate agent in Ashdod, one Eli, who tells him:

People are indifferent. They don't care if there's going to be war. They don't care if there's going to be peace. They don't care. They live in the day.

According to Vick, Israelis don't care about peace, peace negotiations, or about the Palestinians because they are simply having too good a time: sunbathing, swimming, café-hopping, profiting from start-up companies, and, according to polls cited by Vick, utterly disconnected from "politics;" indeed Vick suggests that Israelis resemble Californians more than they resemble Egyptians. These are all points which scream: Israel does not fit in; if Israelis were only more impoverished, more indolent, and paradoxically, even more "laid back," they might be recognizable as indigenous to the region, a true part of the Middle East.

These are Vick's thoughts, not mine.

2) Israel willing to give piece of land for peace to the so called "Palestinians" also if Judea and Samaria are NOT occupied territories by Israel but the Arabs.
3) Just several days ago, the "Palestinians" stroke 2 terror attacks when the peace negotiations started in the U.S.

Mr. Vick, please wash your mind and tell us how can you say that "Israel doesn't care about peace?"

1920 San Remo Conference

A conference of the Allies in World War I (Great Britain, France, Italy, Japan and the United States), held in San Remo, Italy, in April 1920, which confirmed the pledge contained in the Balfour Declaration concerning the establishment of a Jewish national home in Palestine.

The conference was a continuation of a previous meeting between the Allies held in London in February 1920, where it was decided, among other things, to put Palestine under British Mandatory rule. The British delegation to San Remo was headed by Prime Minister David Lloyd George and Lord Curzon, who had replaced Lord *Balfour as foreign minister in 1919.


At both meetings the French expressed many reservations about the inclusion of the Balfour Declaration in the peace treaty, and it was only after the exertion of British pressure that they were gradually persuaded to agree to it.

The San Remo Conference was attended by Chaim Weizmann, Nahum Sokolow, and Herbert Samuel, who presented a memorandum to the British delegation on the final settlement in the Eastern Mediterranean region.



Lord Balfour was called in for consultations.

The article concerning Palestine was debated on April 24, and the next day it was finally resolved to incorporate the Balfour Declaration in Britain's mandate in Palestine.

Thus Britain was made responsible "for putting into effect the declaration made on the 8th November 1917 by the British Government and adopted by the other Allied Powers, in favor of the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people; it being clearly understood that nothing should be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine, or the rights and political status enjoyed by Jews in any other
country."

The San Remo Resolution of 1920 recognized the exclusive national Jewish rights to the Land of Israel under international law, on the strength of the historical connection of the Jewish people to the territory previously known as Palestine.

The outcome of the declaration gave birth to the "Mandate for Palestine," an historical League of Nations document that laid down the Jewish legal right to settle anywhere in western Palestine, a 10,000 square-miles the area between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea....

The San Remo Conference of 1920 has been forgotten or ignored by the community of nations, and that the rights it conferred upon the Jewish people.

The resolution still was celebrated by mass demonstrations throughout the Jewish world.

And finally...?
The U.N split Israel's land another time to satisfied the so called "Palestinians", which are Arabs like any typical Arabs.

If you believe what you read in most news sources, Palestinians want a homeland and Muslims want control over sites they consider holy. Simple, right? Well, as an Arab-American journalist who has spent some time in the Middle East dodging more than my share of rocks and mortar shells, I've got to tell you that these are just phony excuses for the rioting, trouble-making and land-grabbing.

What about Islam's holy sites? There are none in Jerusalem. Shocked? You should be. I don't expect you will ever hear this brutal truth from anyone else in the international media. It's just not politically correct.

I know what you're going to say: "Farah, the Al Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem represent Islam's third most holy sites." Not true. In fact, the Koran says nothing about Jerusalem. It mentions Mecca hundreds of times. It mentions Medina countless times. It never mentions Jerusalem! With good reason. There is no historical evidence to suggest Mohammed ever visited Jerusalem. So how did Jerusalem become the third holiest site of Islam?

Muslims today cite a vague passage in the Koran, the seventeenth Sura, entitled "The Night Journey." It relates that in a dream or a vision Mohammed was carried by night "from the sacred temple to the temple that is most remote, whose precinct we have blessed, that we might show him our signs." In the seventh century, some Muslims identified the two temples mentioned in this verse as being in Mecca and Jerusalem. And that's as close as Islam's connection with Jerusalem gets -- myth, fantasy, wishful thinking. Meanwhile, Jews can trace their roots in Jerusalem back to the days of Abraham.

Ariel SharonThe latest round of violence in Israel erupted when Likud Party leader Ariel Sharon tried to visit the Temple Mount, the foundation of the Temple built by Solomon.* It is the holiest site for Jews. Sharon and his entourage were met with stones and threats. I know what it's like. I've been there. Can you imagine what it is like for Jews to be threatened, stoned and physically kept out of the holiest site in Judaism?

So what's the solution to the Middle East mayhem? Well, frankly, I don't think there is a man-made solution to the violence. But, if there is one, it needs to begin with truth. Pretending will only lead to more chaos. Treating a 5,000-year-old birthright backed by overwhelming historical and archaeological evidence equally with illegitimate claims, wishes and wants gives diplomacy and peacekeeping a bad name.

* Note:
We beg to differ with Joseph Farah on this one point. The violence started the day BEFORE Sharon went up to the Temple Mount. In fact, the Arab Violence was planned months before after the failed Camp David. Sharon didn't just go to the temple mount. He applied for a permit from the waqf. The Arabs knew he was coming and planned the intafada accordingly!

There was nothing spontaneous about the Arab violence!

For over 3,300 years of history, Jerusalem has been a capital city for only the Jewish People. Jews have always lived in Jerusalem, except when they were massacred or driven out. There has, however, been a nearly unbroken Jewish presence in Jerusalem for the past 1,600 years. And since the early 1800's, the population of Jerusalem has been predominantly Jewish. Even when the Jordanians captured and occupied Jerusalem from 1948-67, they (the Jordanians) never sought to change it to their capital (replacing Amman) nor make it the capital of all Arab-"Palestinian" people. Even during the 19 years Jordan "occupied" most of Jerusalem, Arab leaders from other Arab countries hardly ever bothered to visit this city! Only to the Jews has Jerusalem ever held special meaning! The reality is that Jerusalem was never an Arab capital and that it never was, until the Jews revitalized it, a dusty provincial city that hardly played and economic, social or political role.

Another myth deals with the issue of Jerusalem and its Temple Mount. The myth is that Jerusalem is really an Arab city and that it is a central focus of Islam. The truth is that the Arabs expressed very limited interest in the Temple Mount before 1967 after the Six-Day War. Besides, Mecca and Medina (both in Saudi Arabia) are Islam's holiest cities!

Islam's Holy(?) Koran mentions Mecca 2 or 3 (implied, but not actually written) times. It mentions Medina 5 times. It never mentions Jerusalem and with good reason. There is no historical evidence to suggest Mohammad ever visited Jerusalem! And if he did visit Jerusalem, it could not have been until 6 years after his death. Therefore, the notion that Mohammed ascended to Heaven from a rock in Jerusalem (today's Dome of the Rock) is even more ridiculous!

One more thing about Jerusalem in general and its Temple Mount in particular. Jerusalem appears in the Jewish Bible 669 times and Zion (which usually means Jerusalem, sometimes the Land of Israel) 154 times, or 823 times in all. The Christian Bible mentions Jerusalem 154 times and Zion 7 times. All told, in the Old Testament (the Hebrew Bible) and the New Testament, the terms "Judah" or "Judea" appear 877 times, and "Samaria" is used on 123 occasions.

Hold on to your hats, everybody. It gets even better. Upon closer look at their Holy Koran, we have uncovered something quite amazing. These Muslims may actually be more Jewish than Muslim! Get this... the Koran mentions "Israel" [or "Israelites"] 47 times, "Jew" or "Jewish" 26 times! Even "Christian" or "Christians" gets 15 mentions!

OK, so maybe Mohammed just forget to mention "Jerusalem". Maybe he also forgot to mention the Haram-esh-Sharif, their name for Judaism's Temple Mount. Perhaps it was an honest oversight. That desert heat can do strange things to one's brain. But surely "Palestine" is mentioned all through the Koran. After all, the poo' poo' ancient "Palestinians" go way back, right? WRONG. "Palestine" and "Palestinian" are nowhere to be found. Perhaps that's because these so-called Arab "Palestinians" have ancient historical roots going ALL THE WAY back to June 1967! So much for the Arab, Muslim or "Palestinian" ancient religious or physical connections to a single ounce of turf in the so-called "occupied" territories!

From 1948 to 1967, when East Jerusalem and the Temple Mount were "occupied" by Jordanian Forces following the 1948-9 Arab-Israeli War, Jerusalem itself was ignored by the Arab world. No Arab leader ever paid a visit, not even to pray at the al-Aqsa Mosque or the Dome of the Rock (both located on the JEWISH Temple Mount). Also noteworthy during this 19 year period of Jordanian occupation' no Jews were allowed there... not that there was much for them to see since the Arabs destroyed 58 of Jerusalem's Jewish synagogues! Even the Arabs of "Palestine" placed so low a priority on Jerusalem that the PLO's founding charter, the 1964 Palestinian National Covenant, made no reference whatsoever to it.
